Two Days Workshop on ‘Building Capacity for Impact Assessment of e-Government Projects’ sponsored by the Department of Information Technology (DIT)

The Centre for E-governance, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad will be organising a two-day workshop on ‘Building Capacity for Impact Assessment of e-Government Projects’ on February 26 and 27. The workshop, which is sponsored by the Department of Information Technology (DIT), GoI, will be held at the International Management Development Centre of IIMA.

IT Secretaries from several states, academics, representatives of eleven market research agencies and program managers from DIT including Chandrashekhar, Additional Secretary in DIT, who heads the national e-governance plan (NEGP) will participate in the programme. The workshop is based on a World Bank funded research project undertaken by a team led by Professor Subhash Bhatnagar. Bhatnagar has been providing advice to the World Bank in its e-governance activities for the last 6 years. Impact on citizens, business clients and government agencies were assessed for eight mature e-government projects from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Gujarat in the study.

Placement Fees at IIMs likely to be hike by 25%

IIMs to raise their Placement Fees this season by approx. 25% Rising costs, service tax and recognition of their own increased brand value has prompted most Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) to raise placement fees this season-- in some cases like IIM Kozhikode’s-- even up to 25 per cent. WIPO General Assembly to Decide Future Work on A Development Agenda

GENEVA - Member states of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), at a meeting of the Provisional Committee on Proposals related to a WIPO Development Agenda (PCDA), decided to refer a decision on the future work of a development agenda for WIPO to the WIPO General Assembly, which will meet in September 2006. The Committee met from June 26-30, 2006, and was chaired by Ambassador Rigoberto Gauto Vielman of Paraguay. A press release by WIPO stated that the Committee was attended by 90 member states and 45 observers. All delegations acknowledged the importance of all the issues raised during the development agenda
