Workshop at IIM Lucknow from June 30 to July 2
Lucknow : A three-day training workshop on ‘Legal Awareness and Youth Participation in Environment Compliance and Enforcement’ is being organised at IIM Lucknow from June 30 to July 2.
As per the information given by IIM Lucknow, the programme is sponsored by United States of America through American Embassy, New Delhi under the Fulbright Alumini Grant.
The format of the workshop will comprise of lectures, group discussion, experience sharing and the presentations on various issues of environmental and legal awareness and youth participation in an access to Environmental Justice and Citizen Suits etc.
An observation-cum-study tour to a prominent site will also be organised for the participants arriving from Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Rajasthan to highlight the role of youth in environmental management.
The motivation for conducting the workshop is that “The greater poverty than that is caused by lack of money is poverty of awareness.”
The objective of the workshop is to create legal awareness among conscious and motivated youth and youth influencers on environment rights, duties and their participatory role in effective environmental compliance and enforcement.
The inauguration of the workshop has been scheduled at 9.30 am at Manthan Block on June 30. Magsaysay Award winnr Rajendra Singh, president, Tarun Bharat Sangh, Alwar Rajasthan will be delivering the inaugural address. IIM Lucknow students will also be participating in the programme.

IIMs want autonomy, time before quota
AHMEDABAD: The interim report that Samuel Paul, chairman of the Core Group On Management Institutions, submitted to the Oversight Committee on Thursday says all six IIMs have asked for more time before the implementing the 27% OBC quota. The report also recommends more autonomy for these institutes to fix salaries of its faculty. IIMs need to increase their capacity by 54%, if the 27% quota is to be implemented, the report adds. The final timeframe for implementation of the quota will be decided on July 17. On Friday however, Paul will be holding talks with Oversight Committee head Verappa Moily.
