IIM admission lists formally cleared
Thousands of MBA aspirants can finally breathe a sigh of relief with the human resource development (HRD) ministry Friday issuing a directive to the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) to release admission lists like in previous years. HRD Minister Arjun Singh Friday afternoon formally issued directives to all central government funded higher educational institutes, including the six IIMs, to release the lists for general category and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe aspirants. IIM Grads Unite Against Quota IIM students on Thursday joined ranks with medical students to protest the OBC quota proposal. Unlike AIIMS medicos, who braved tear-gas shells and water canons in New Delhi, the protest by BMA students was unexpectedly sedate. "Very corporate style," as a passer-by commented. A group of around 70 students, claiming to represent, 470 students of the institute, walked across the campus holding fliickering candles as a mark of protest and at the end of it they called a customary press conference where journalists were handed out a well-scripted press note.
