IIMs gear up for record placement

Over 1,000 students spread across six Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) in India are set to witness historic highs during the final placements which kick starts at IIM Kozhikode from Tuesday. The would-be IIM graduates may be in for the best ever placement performance this year both in terms of pay packages and work profile.

In days to follow over 100-130 top-rated companies from varied sectors are likely to visit each IIM scouting for talent this year. IIM-K will be the first one to start the final placement process this year, followed by IIM Indore which will hold placement week from February 27 to March 2 and IIM Lucknow and IIM Bangalore (March 6 onwards).

Want IIM students, pay more placement fees Thanks to service tax, corporates will now have to spend more money to hire management students from these premier institutes. IIMs are planning, and in some cases have decided, to hike their placement fees this academic year. While IIM Lucknow has already hiked the fee, IIM Kozhikode has decided to increase the same by 25 per cent. IIM Bangalore, too, would increase its fee by 12.2 per cent if forced to pay the service tax and IIM Calcutta also does not rule out an increase in placement fees or fees for its full-time MBA
