IIM Ahmedabad to have full time foreign faculty

Moving ahead from just having visiting faculty on its campus, B-schools are now working towards having international faculty on their rolls. The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), for instance, is toying with the idea of having international faculty on its rolls. The institute is in talks with a French professor to join it full time and conduct classes. Many B-schools in India have international faculty visiting its campuses on an ongoing basis. Introduction of Doctoral Level Programme

The Fellow Programme is the doctoral-level Programme of the Institute which is recognised as equivalent to a Ph.D. by the Association of Indian Universities and the Government of India. The first Fellow of IIMB graduated in 1980. The programme aims to build in the candidates the perspectives of the specialist, the researcher, and the academician. The program equips students for careers in teaching and research, as staff-level specialists in functional areas in corporate, government, non-government and international organisations, and as consultants. Liberal education college hunts for IIM faculty With the launch of the Foundation for Liberal and Management Education (FLAME), Indias first liberal education college at Pune, six faculty with an IIM-A background, some of them former deans of the institute, are all set to join the new college. The college, which is set to commence classes from July 2007, is also in talks with various faculty members from other IIMs in the country to rope them in as full-time faculty.
